Chowdhury Brothers is a privately held investment firm. We invest our own capital alongside our partners', in a small number of positions we understand well enough to hold through a full cycle.
01 The Firm
We are answerable to a short list of people, and that shapes every decision we make.
The firm was founded in 2018 by two brothers with a straightforward arrangement: the capital they manage includes their own, and the people who invest with them are known to them personally. There is no third party between a decision and its consequences.
That structure lets us do things larger managers cannot. We can wait. We can pass on a full year of opportunities and hold cash without explaining ourselves to a consultant. We can concentrate into a position when the price is right, and we can stay in it long after the story has stopped being interesting to anyone else.
We publish nothing, market to no one, and take on new partners rarely. Most of our capital has been with us since the beginning.
02 What We Do
Four mandates. Each one is run by a person, not a committee.
Concentrated ownership in businesses with durable economics and management we would work for. Sized to conviction, not to a benchmark.
Systematic option writing against index and single-name exposure, sized so that a bad month is uncomfortable and never fatal.
Direct lending to operators in markets we know, on terms we set, with collateral we have seen in person.
Long-hold property and operating assets acquired below replacement cost, financed conservatively and improved over years.
03 How We Work
Three commitments, written down before they were ever tested.
Every position is sized against the worst outcome we can describe, not the one we expect. Leverage is a tool for a specific job, never a default setting.
One person is accountable for each holding, start to finish. We write down the reasoning at entry and re-read it before we add or exit.
Partners receive the same numbers we look at, on the same schedule, including the quarters we would rather explain in person.
